The Midsomer Arts Festival is a celebration of the Arts in and around Midsomer Norton. The focus is on local engagement with the arts, and encouraging involvement in, and appreciation of, creativity and artistic expression in as wide a range of forms as possible.
Throughout the week
Visual Arts As in the previous years of the Midsomer Norton Arts Trail, art work produced by students from Norton Hill and Somerville secondary schools will be displayed in the windows of shops and businesses on and around the high street of Midsomer Norton, and this year in Westfield and Radstock. A printed trail leaflet will be available. There will also be art work on display in other venues. These will include Midsomer Norton Town Hall Tesco and Sainsbury's supermarkets Cafes and restaurants Leaf or petal
We have produced a large number of leaf or petal shapes for individuals and groups to decorate, as a unifying symbol for the Arts Festival. The flower is intended to symbolise the rich and developing green areas in the locality, and the community coming together. In the same way that the cities of Bath and Wells have decorated pigs and swans, we are asking individuals and organisations to adorn the shape of a leaf or petal, to create large flowers to be displayed around the area. Site Specific Art Work
There will be textile and sculptural work displayed around the area, which is designed to be discovered unexpectedly, though there will be a trail map to help find them. The riverside area will be adorned with large scale art work created by secondary school pupils such as bunting, flags and portraits. Midsomer Schools Partnership sculptures New sculpture will be sited in the Nature Reserve and Heritage Railway on Silver Street. Music and drama performances
